The dazzling, inimitable Molly Ivins is back, with her own personal Hall of Fame of America's most amazing and outlandish politicians, the wicked, the wise, the witty, and the witless, drawn from more than 20 years of reporting on the folks who attempt to run our government (in some cases, into the ground).
Who Let the Dogs In? takes us on a wild ride through two decades of political life, from Ronald Reagan, through Big George and Bill Clinton, to our current top dog, known to Ivins readers simply as Dubya. But those are just a few of the political animals who are honored and skewered for our amusement. Ivins also writes hilariously, perceptively, and at times witheringly of John Ashcroft, Dick Cheney, Donald Rumsfeld, H. Ross Perot, Tom DeLay, Ann Richards, Al Gore, Jimmy Carter, and the current governor of Texas, who is known as Rick "Goodhair" Perry.
Following close on the heels of her phenomenally successful Bushwhacked and containing an up-to-the-minute introduction for the campaign season, Who Let the Dogs In? is political writing at its best.

Molly Ivins’ views on American politics were incisive, humorous and honest. What makes her humor so funny is that she was raised in a very conservative area of Tejas yet, she was a thinking liberal that was not afraid to take on the democrats and hometown republicans.I gladly recommend reading her thoughts because they are just as applicable today as when she wrote them. Enjoy.
What plot? This isn't a novel. It's just a load of information and fun about all the politicians she covered over a 20 year period. You'll recognize most of them, or want to know more about those you don't know. As with all of her books, it's a hoot. Loved it.
This book is essentially a "greatest hits" album; it's a retrospective on Molly's best political commentary over the last 20-30 years of her life (running from Reagan to W. Bush). Any long-time fan will have seen most or all of these columns before. But they ARE a selection of her best work, and that makes it quite good indeed. Don't read it if you've read everything she's ever read & don't want reruns, but other than that, highly recommended.
Honest disclosure -- I have always loved reading Molly Ivins, and this book is no exception. No matter what your political view, you have to admit she's an entertaining writer. And she makes you think. This is a compilation of her columns writing during the George W. Bush administration. She knew George Bush and his family, and although she is critical of him and his administration, she is never unkind. This is definitely enjoyable reading.
I love anything Molly Ivans wrote! Wish she was still around to write more columns!
A great read if you want to learn the dirt about politics.
